System requirements

  • x86_64 distribution with glibc 2.31+ (Ubuntu 20.04+, Debian 11+, Fedora 33+, Arch, etc.)
  • libfuse2 available (required by AppImage)
  • Wayland and X11 both work

Install

  1. Click Download above to grab the AppImage.
  2. Make it executable and run it:
terminal
chmod +x Mailwing-1.2.1.AppImage
./Mailwing-1.2.1.AppImage
Want desktop integration (Mailwing in your launcher, icon set, mime handlers)? Install AppImageLauncher — it'll register the AppImage automatically the first time you run it.

Make Mailwing your default mail client

terminal
xdg-settings set default-url-scheme-handler mailto mailwing

Once registered, mailto: links from browsers, calendar apps and terminal helpers will open in Mailwing.

Troubleshooting

"fuse: device not found" or AppImage won't launch

Install libfuse2 from your distro's repository:

ubuntu/debian
sudo apt install libfuse2
fedora
sudo dnf install fuse-libs

Sandbox errors on certain distros

Some kernels (often hardened ones) refuse Electron's sandbox. As a last resort you can pass --no-sandbox, but please open an issue first — there's usually a better fix.

How do I uninstall?

Delete the AppImage file and the user-data directory at ~/.config/mailwing.
